Halos

Movement Monday is back! Look for an upcoming blog on what I've been up to in the meantime.

Today's movement is the halo. This is a great exercise for the upper back as well as strengthening and improving mobility in the shoulders. I started incorporating this exercise into my routine years ago when I was recovering from a torn rotator cuff.

You are able to choose between a variety of equipment options for this movement. A medicine ball, sandbag, dumbbell, or kettlebell will all work. To simplify the explanation, I'll assume a kettlebell is being used.

Start standing with feet hip-width apart holding the KB in front of you at chest level. Circle the KB over your shoulder and around your head, bringing it back in front of your chest. Complete your desired number of repetitions at your desired KB weight and then switch directions.

Look for this movement in the upcoming Workout Wednesday post.
